An official reception marking the 77th anniversary of India’s Republic Day was held in Astana. During the event, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of India to Kazakhstan, Yu. K. Silas TANGAL, outlined key areas of bilateral cooperation and announced the introduction of free visas for Kazakhstani citizens, Kazinform reports.
According to him, the Government of India has decided to grant citizens of Kazakhstan free visas for up to 30 days for tourism, medical treatment, and accompanying persons.
“In order to encourage bilateral tourism, the Government of India has decided to provide citizens of Kazakhstan with free visas for up to 30 days,” the ambassador stated.
That visas can be obtained both online and by applying in person at the Embassy of India.
The ambassador also noted growth in tourist exchanges. According to estimates by the Indian side, around 250,000 Indian citizens visited Kazakhstan in 2025.
In his speech, the diplomat emphasized that India is currently the world’s fourth-largest and one of the fastest-growing economies, demonstrating sustainable development in IT, artificial intelligence, fintech, pharmaceuticals, and digital infrastructure.
He also noted that bilateral trade amounts to about USD 1 billion, although the potential for cooperation is significantly higher.
