Courier services became the main driver of cost increases in the first quarter of 2026

In Kazakhstan, the first quarter of 2026 saw an increase in tariffs for postal, courier, and telecommunications services for businesses. Overall, prices rose by 4.9% compared to the previous quarter, Astana TV reports citing Finratings.kz.

The main increase occurred in the delivery segment, which is used by companies for logistics and customer interaction.

The most noticeable rise was in parcel and small package delivery services, which increased by 5.5%. EMS services grew by 5.4%, while sending letters and postcards rose by 3.5%. At the same time, delivery of periodicals remained unchanged.

Regionally, the highest price growth was recorded in the East Kazakhstan Region at 6.4%. In the Abai Region and North Kazakhstan Region, tariffs increased by 6%. In the Akmola Region, they rose by 5.8%, and in the Atyrau Region by 5.6%.

In major cities, the increase was more moderate: in Astana – 4.9%, in Almaty – 4.8%, and in Shymkent – 5.5%.

Unlike delivery services, communication services saw only minimal growth of 0.1%. Fixed-line communication increased by 0.1%, while local telephone services rose by 0.4%. International calls to CIS and Baltic countries went up by 0.1%, and calls to other countries increased by 2.9%.

In the mobile communications segment, growth amounted to 0.2%, while internet and some other services remained unchanged. However, certain categories showed more noticeable increases: mobile radiotelephone services rose by 8.3%, and satellite services by 7.9%.

The rise in courier service tariffs is becoming a key factor in increasing business expenses, while communication services remain a relatively stable cost item.
