Kazakhstan has dropped to 96th place out of 182 countries, scoring 38 points

According to the Transparency International index, Kazakhstan is classified among corrupt countries. In 2025, it ranked 96th out of 182 countries with a score of 38 points. Last year, the country was in 88th place with 40 points.

A score below 50 indicates a high level of corruption in a country. Over the past ten years, Kazakhstan’s score has not exceeded 40 points.

Currently, in the corruption ranking, Kazakhstan stands alongside Ethiopia and Suriname. Uzbekistan scored 31 points (124th place), Kyrgyzstan — 26 points (142nd place), Russia — 22 points (157th place), and Turkmenistan — 17 points (167th place).

Countries with the lowest levels of corruption include Denmark (89 points), Finland (88 points), and Singapore (84 points).

Kazakhstan received its lowest scores in areas such as the quality of democratic institutions, judicial independence, and the condition of the media and civil society. Experts noted increased pressure on civil society in the country, restrictions on the activities of non-governmental organizations, and the dissolution of Antikor.
