Mercedes with 24 million tenge stolen from an Akmola entrepreneur

In the Akmola region, police solved a brazen theft in hot pursuit, reports KTK TV channel.

A well-known local entrepreneur left tens of millions of tenge inside his foreign car. When he returned, he found that both the money and the vehicle were gone.

The incident took place in the village of Zhibek Zholy in the Arshaly district. The local businessman had left 24 million tenge in his Mercedes, which was parked next to his house. The perpetrators stole the car and took the money. Whether the thieves deliberately targeted the vehicle knowing about the large sum inside, or whether it was a stroke of criminal luck, has not yet been reported. Two suspects were identified through surveillance cameras and detained. Investigators are checking whether they had accomplices.

“Thanks to the systematic work of the operatives, the circle of individuals involved in the incident and their whereabouts were quickly established. After three days of intensive search efforts, two men — natives of the Kyzylorda region, aged 27 and 29 — were detained in the Arshaly district. A pre-trial investigation into the theft is underway, and the suspects have been placed under arrest for its duration,” said Almagul TURSYMBAYEVA, Senior Inspector of the Information Policy Department of the Akmola Region Police.
