The verification of possible involvement of former Prime Minister Karim Massimov and former National Bank head Kairat Kelimbetov is still ongoing

Deputy Prosecutor General Yerlan UTEGENOV spoke about the progress of the review into the possible involvement of Kazakh officials in connections with Jeffrey EPSTEIN, Kazinform reports.

According to him, the review is being conducted in response to a parliamentary inquiry and covers a large volume of data.

“About three million messages – they are fragmentary. We are now fully examining the data to identify where citizens of Kazakhstan appear and, in general, where Kazakhstan is mentioned,” Utegenov said at a briefing in the Senate.

He added that the verification of possible involvement of former Prime Minister Karim MASSIMOV and former National Bank head Kairat KELIMBETOV is still ongoing.

The deputy prosecutor general did not specify when the review would be completed. According to him, due to the significant volume of information, it will take time for thorough analysis and verification of its reliability.

On February 25, Mazhilis member Askhat RAKHIMZHANOV, in his parliamentary inquiry, called for an investigation into possible contacts between former high-ranking Kazakh officials and Jeffrey Epstein, who was convicted in the United States of sexual offenses.

On February 27, Prosecutor General Berik ASYLOV announced the start of the review.
