MMA fighter Kuat KHAMITOV has continued his criticism of Kazakh football, Sports.kz reports.
The fighter commented on a post published by the Instagram account kzsports, which posed the topical question: “When will Kazakhstan qualify for the FIFA World Cup?”
“One day before Judgment Day,” Khamitov replied, adding an emoji.
Recently, Khamitov criticized the national team’s players following a string of disappointing results under head coach John van ’t Schip in the UEFA Nations League, including a 2-1 home defeat to Moldova and a 2-2 draw with the Faroe Islands.
The fighter expressed outrage over what he described as the imbalance between the players’ financial earnings and their poor performances. He said he had not realized it was possible to earn some of the highest salaries in the country while “so honorably” disgracing it on the pitch through what he called simple “jogging.”
As a solution to the problems facing domestic sports, Khamitov once again called for professional football in Kazakhstan to be suspended for at least 10 years. He argued that the state funds thereby freed up should be redirected toward developing youth training centers and academies, as well as attracting world-class coaches to help nurture future generations of athletes.
