More than 49 million tenge in budget funds stolen by the director

The West Kazakhstan Regional Department of the Financial Monitoring Agency is conducting an investigation into the embezzlement of budget funds in the education sector, reports 24KZ.

The director of the State Communal Enterprise “West Kazakhstan Industrial College” organized the fictitious enrollment of 54 individuals who did not actually attend classes. Despite this, these individuals were listed in official documents as active students — they were given fake grades, attendance sheets and performance records were falsified, and scholarships were issued to them, in some cases increased ones. Bank accounts were opened in the names of the fake students, and scholarship payments were transferred to those accounts. The bank cards were then handed over to the college director or other individuals at his instruction for cash withdrawal and further use of the funds.

As a result, the director embezzled more than 49 million tenge in budget funds. A preventive measure in the form of house arrest has been imposed on him.
By court order, his apartment has been seized.
