Neither Iran nor the countries that were attacked

Kazakhstan advocates resolving any military conflicts exclusively through diplomatic means. This was stated by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, Alibek BAKAYEV, commenting on the situation in the Middle East, Kazinform reports.

According to Alibek Bakayev, Kazakhstan has maintained, continues to maintain, and will maintain a policy of non-interference in the affairs of third countries.

“In this case, we are not taking anyone’s side – neither Iran’s nor the side of the countries that were subjected to attack. We want such military conflicts not to occur. And if they do arise, their resolution must be found by the parties at the diplomatic table. We call for and adhere to the position that such conflicts must be resolved in accordance with international law and the UN Charter. All of this is set out in these international documents. This position remains unchanged,” Alibek Bakayev said at a government briefing.

The deputy minister was also asked whether Kazakhstan is ready to provide a platform for negotiations if necessary.

“If the parties make a request – we have such experience. We have previously provided platforms, in particular regarding Iran. Thus, a venue was provided in Almaty, which made a significant contribution to resolving this issue. Regarding Syria, more than 20 rounds of negotiations between the Syrian authorities and opposition groups were held in our country. The diplomatic presence of these countries on our platform helped stop the military conflict by bringing the conflicting or opposing sides to the negotiating table. Therefore, we have such experience. If a request is made, we will carefully consider it. As of today, no such requests have been received,” concluded Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan Alibek Bakayev.
