Kazakhstan has officially launched its autumn vaccination campaign against seasonal influenza. The Ministry of Health has purchased more than 2 million doses of the Russian-made influenza vaccine Grippol.

According to the ministry, the vaccine has already been delivered to clinics in the Almaty, Turkestan and Zhetysu regions, as well as the cities of Almaty and Shymkent. Healthcare workers in these areas have already begun vaccinating the population.

The Ministry of Health has pledged to distribute the vaccine across the country by October 5. However, officials noted that only 564,000 doses have been delivered to Kazakhstan so far.

The ministry stated that it had procured the Russian-made Grippol® vaccine, whose composition complies with the World Health Organization’s recommendations for the upcoming influenza season.

Free vaccination will primarily be offered to those most vulnerable to the virus. State-funded immunization will be provided to healthcare workers, children with chronic illnesses who are registered with healthcare providers, and orphans. The list also includes residents and staff of boarding institutions and nursing homes, as well as other Kazakhstanis considered to be at high risk of infection.

The Ministry of Health strongly recommends that everyone eligible for a free vaccination should not delay visiting their doctor. To find out the vaccination schedule and receive the vaccine, citizens need only contact their local clinic.

Regional authorities have been instructed to begin vaccinating residents immediately upon receiving vaccine supplies.

It should be recalled that the vaccination campaign in Kazakhstan was originally scheduled to begin on September 15, according to a resolution issued by Chief State Sanitary Doctor Sarkhat BEISENOVA. However, it was later announced that the start of the campaign would be postponed until October.
