U.S. President Donald TRUMP supports the adoption of a bipartisan sanctions package against Russia over its aggression against Ukraine, initiated by the late Senator Lindsey GRAHAM. CNN reported this on July 13, citing a White House representative.

On July 10, during a visit to Kyiv, Graham stated that the U.S. administration had agreed to support the sanctions bill.

At that time, however, it was unclear whether Trump himself would back the bill, since the American president had repeatedly insisted on greater freedom of action regarding the imposition of sanctions.

According to CNN, Trump’s support could accelerate the bill’s passage in the Senate.

Senate Republican Majority Leader John THUNE said Monday that the White House had closely worked with Graham on the sanctions bill. In an interview with CNN, he expressed hope that the document would be adopted.

Thune also noted that in Graham’s final days, the sanctions package was “the most important achievement for him, and it will undoubtedly become an incredible legacy.”

The document provides for the possibility of imposing tariffs on countries purchasing Russian oil, gas, and uranium.
