From January to June 2026, Kazakhstan recorded a net migration increase of 5,703 people. A total of 893,195 people arrived, while 887,492 departed.

According to report.az, these figures are based on data from Kazakhstan’s Bureau of National Statistics.

The largest migration growth by ethnicity was among Kazakhs — 4,237 people. Positive balances were also recorded among Karakalpaks (464), Uzbeks (359), Tajiks (204), Azerbaijanis (163), and Kyrgyz (77).

The main centers of attraction were Astana, with a net migration increase of 33,388 people, and Almaty — 16,933. Positive balances were also observed in Almaty Region (7,582), Shymkent (6,572), and Akmola Region (2,576).

The largest migration outflow was recorded in Turkestan Region — 19,496 people, and Zhambyl Region — 9,176.

In terms of external migration, Uzbekistan contributed the largest inflow — 1,977 people, followed by China — 1,690. Positive balances were also noted in migration exchanges with Russia, Turkmenistan, and Mongolia.

Meanwhile, negative migration balances were recorded with Germany, the USA, Canada, and Poland.
