Kazakhstan plans to build a terminal in the Iranian port of Bandar Abbas.

The project will be implemented through private investments, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Economy Serik ZHUMANGARIN announced.

According to him, the terminal will significantly expand export deliveries to the countries of South and Southeast Asia. Already today, the railway route through Turkmenistan and Iran provides access to the Persian Gulf and markets in India, East Africa, and the region.

Through the new terminal, Kazakhstan expects to supply virtually any type of product. In addition, the authorities anticipate the removal of restrictions on the transit of certain goods through Iran after signing the relevant agreement.

At the same time, Kazakhstan is also working on alternative logistics routes. One option is a railway through Afghanistan leading to ports in Pakistan, which would reduce dependence on the Strait of Hormuz.
