The measure is aimed at preventing fuel shortages

Kazakhstan intends to stimulate the import of petroleum products from third countries by eliminating import customs duties, said Deputy Minister of Trade and Integration Zhanel KUSHUKOVA, according to a Kazinform correspondent.

According to Zhanel Kushukova, the relevant decision is being considered within the framework of the Eurasian Economic Commission.

“With the current situation in mind, a decision is being made today to reduce import customs duties in order to encourage the supply of fuel from third countries. First and foremost, this concerns China,” said Zhanel Kushukova.

She noted that the measure is aimed at ensuring stable supply of the domestic market with fuel and preventing shortages.

In addition, restrictions on the export of petroleum products will continue to apply in Kazakhstan. According to the Deputy Minister, these measures are extended every six months.

At the same time, the volumes of possible fuel imports from China will be determined based on the needs of the domestic market.

Zhanel Kushukova also reported that the import customs duty rate will be reduced to zero. Its size depends on global oil prices and is calculated according to an established formula.
