Arrival of foreign guests boosted demand for hotels, city transport, restaurants, and other services

The Kanye WEST concert at Almaty’s Central Stadium, held on August 15 as part of the artist’s international tour, gathered 31,000 spectators, reports 24KZ.

Overall, the event attracted around 7,700 tourists from more than 50 countries and territories.

“Guests came to Almaty from Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Russia, UAE, USA, China, UK, Germany, Australia, and other countries. Among them were about 2,000 fans from abroad, many of whom follow the global tour schedule, attending multiple concerts. The arrival of foreign visitors created additional demand for hotels, city transport, restaurants, and other urban services. The economic impact of this tourist flow amounted to approximately 5 billion tenge,” emphasized the joint press release by the organizers – Freedom Afisha and First Media Group.

It is noted that Almaty became the only stop of the tour in Central Asia so far.

“Between August 13 and 16, Almaty saw increased demand for accommodation services: average occupancy of facilities reached about 98%. This clearly demonstrates the influence of major international events on the city’s tourism activity,” said Galiya TOKSEITOVA, Head of Almaty’s Tourism Department.

At the same time, on the day of the concert, more than 4,400 people ensured the venue’s operation, including security and safety staff, police, city services, technical and production teams, medical services, stadium personnel, ticketing operator, and service crews.
