Jan Khojaoglu joins one of Turkey’s most famous clubs

Seventeen‑year‑old Kazakh defender Jan KHOJAOGLU has officially joined the system of Istanbul’s Galatasaray.

According to ASnews.kz, the young talent was accepted into the club’s U‑19 squad after nearly a month‑long trial period. Khojaoglu caught the attention of the Turkish side through video recordings of his performances and appearances for Kazakhstan’s U‑17 national team. After just his fourth training session, he managed to convince the coaches of his abilities.

The player noted that during the trial, four scouts observed every training session, creating significant psychological pressure. Since Jan has supported the Istanbul club since childhood, the move was an emotional milestone for him. He now has the opportunity to train alongside members of the senior squad.

Galatasaray’s coaching staff see the Kazakh not only as a defender but also as a potential defensive midfielder.

Before moving to Turkey, Khojaoglu played for Swiss club Sion, where he appeared in 10 matches. As he missed pre‑season preparations, he has been given about six weeks to regain full fitness, planning to work additionally with personal trainers.

Currently, Galatasaray’s U‑19 team leads the league table. The same division also features two other Kazakh players: Alamgir SMAKOV with Beşiktaş and Diyarhan KARABALINOV with Alanyaspor.
