Kazakh Goalkeeper Sets Unusual Champions League Record

Stas Pokatilov part of Sabah’s unique achievement

Kazakh goalkeeper Stas POKATILOV made history in the UEFA Champions League by starting for Azerbaijan’s Sabah in their match against England’s Manchester United, reports Kpl.kz.

Sabah achieved a remarkable feat with its starting lineup: 11 players representing 11 different countries took the field at Old Trafford from the opening whistle.

Pokatilov was Kazakhstan’s representative in this international team. For Sabah, the clash with Manchester United marked their debut in the main stage of the Champions League.

Even more striking was the fact that across both starting lineups, 21 nationalities were represented among the 22 players.

Thus, Pokatilov became a direct participant in one of the most unusual achievements of this year’s Champions League campaign.
