Analysts note a link between cyber threats and geopolitical events

Cyberattacks in the region that includes Kazakhstan rose by 13%, according to the first Cyber Pulse study by Mastercard, reported by 24.kz.

The report states that the main targets of attacks are business systems, customer data, and physical infrastructure – accounting for 66% of all hacking attempts.

Government, technology, and financial sectors are also among the most vulnerable, representing 44% of cyber incidents.

Analysts highlight the connection between cyber threats and geopolitical developments. For example, after the escalation of conflict in the Middle East, cybercriminal activity increased by 198% on the very first day.

Meanwhile, Kazakhstan continues to strengthen its position in international cybersecurity rankings. According to the UN Global Index, the country is among those with a high level of development in national protection systems.
