Kazakhstan plans to purchase 11 bcm of gas from Gazprom this year

Long-term contract discussions expected

Kazakhstan intends to buy 11 billion cubic meters of gas from Gazprom in 2026, while supplies of about 9 bcm are being discussed for the following year, Deputy Minister of Energy Kairkhan TUTKYSHBAYEV told reporters on the sidelines of the International Industrial and Energy Forum.

“Volumes are under discussion. This year we had minor technical disruptions at our major fields. Last year, for example, we imported 4 bcm, while this year it is 11 bcm. For next year, we are discussing around 9 bcm,” he was quoted as saying in the media.

He added that Kazakhstan and Gazprom have signed an addendum to the gas supply contract, and by the end of the year the parties plan to discuss a long-term agreement. “Russia remains our strategic partner; we have no issues regarding gas matters,” Tutkyshbayev emphasized.
