The launch of the capital’s LRT last weekend turned into a kind of pilgrimage. In just one day, about 100,000 passengers rode the elevated metro. The number of people eager to try out the new mode of transport in the capital exceeded all imaginable forecasts, reports KTK TV channel.
The light rail trains opened their doors to passengers last Saturday. There were so many who wanted to be among the first that the carriages were overcrowded, and huge queues formed at the stations. Entire families — children, adults, and elderly people — set out to admire the city views from the LRT windows. Some complained that the carriages were stuffy. One of the trains even stopped in the middle of the route. The operating company explained that this may have been caused by passengers randomly pressing emergency buttons. CTS reminded that such actions should not be taken without urgent necessity.
“We would like to urge everyone to follow safety rules: do not press emergency buttons on platforms and in carriages without urgent need, do not open train doors on your own, and do not obstruct their closing. Such actions lead to train stoppages,” warned Asylbek DUISEBAYEV, Chairman of the Board of CTS LLP.
