Mangystau region reports 23 black widow spider bite cases in the past month, with six patients placed in intensive care units, Qazinform News Agency reports.

The majority of cases was registered in Mangystau district — seven people, and in Munaily and Beineu districts — six people in each.

Two children sought for medical assistance in Aktau. Both of them underwent treatment in ISU.

Madina RAKHMETOVA, head of the regional sanitary-epidemiological control department, has urged residents to exercise caution while resting outdoors and carrying out field work. She stressed the importance of keeping household buildings clean, regularly clearing surrounding areas, and conducting pest control measures when necessary.

“A bite from a black widow spider can cause severe pain, muscle spasms, weakness, and a high fever. Anyone who is bitten should seek immediate first aid and medical attention at the nearest healthcare facility,” Rakhmetova said.
